The humanitarian situation
The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is an utter tragedy that demands immediate, large-scale action. Civilians, especially children, face an unprecedented famine, cut off from clean water and healthcare, victims of this genocide.
Since the conflict began on 7 October 2023, more than 68,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, around 70% of them women and children (source: United Nations).
Whole families have been wiped out, doctors killed, 540 aid workers and more than 220 journalists killed, and teachers targeted.
LIFE is on the ground, working with our trusted local partner, the Al Amal association, to distribute food and water every day thanks to your donations. The emergency is far from over: people, especially children, are surviving in extreme conditions, threatened by famine, disease and bombing. Help us act.
The latest humanitarian figures for Gaza
As of 24 October 2025, the crisis in Gaza remains extreme: 68,500 dead, 170,400 injured, nearly 2 million people displaced. According to the UN and major NGOs, women and children make up the majority of victims.

- + 500,000 people affected by famine according to the UN, including 1.1 million facing a food emergency, and +330,000 children suffering from acute malnutrition.
- 90% of the population has been displaced at least once (≈ 2M people). 97% of water remains unfit to drink
- 22 / 36 hospitals are out of service, 14 partially functioning
- A child is killed or injured every 10 minutes, according to UNICEF.
Gaza today: infrastructure and hospitals
In Gaza, the mass destruction of hospitals, schools and infrastructure has severely weakened medical services and disrupted the supply of electricity and clean water. According to the UN, around 83% of buildings in the Gaza Strip have been damaged or destroyed.
More than 1.9 million refugees, over 85% of the population, are forced to live in open-air shelters or in precarious conditions.
Civilian life has been wiped out: people no longer have access to water, electricity, safety or healthcare. Not to mention the raging famine : more than 500,000 people are suffering acute famine, according to the UN and Médecins Sans Frontières.
In Rafah, in southern Gaza, + 1.3 million Palestinians are trapped under the bombs.
Famine in Gaza: water, malnutrition, disease
Famine is spreading in Gaza (IPC Phase 5). 100% of Gazans (2.1 million people) are facing acute food insecurity.
This situation is unprecedented anywhere in the world.
- More than 330,000 children are at risk of acute malnutrition.

- 1 in 3 children under 2 suffers from acute malnutrition in northern Gaza.

LIFE IS ON THE GROUND IN GAZA: OUR WORK IN PALESTINE, MADE POSSIBLE BY YOUR DONATIONS
Since the start of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, LIFE has been working on the ground every day, in Palestine and specifically in Gaza. Since the start of 2024, your donations have enabled us to help displaced families by providing:
- several thousand food parcels to feed families in Gaza,
- hundreds of thousands of hot meals,
- bread,
- hundreds of thousands of litres of clean drinking water by tanker truck,
- sacks of flour,
- baby formula and nappies,
- sanitary products,
- clothing kits and emergency blankets,
- medical care through our medical aid centre (currently closed; we hope to reopen it)

How did you get into Gaza? How do my donations reach Palestine, in the Gaza Strip 🇵🇸?
For years we have worked hand in hand with trusted local partners 🤝 based in Gaza itself, who have reached agreements with suppliers so they can keep going, whatever it takes and sometimes at the risk of their lives, providing hot meals every day 🍽️ among other things. Working locally like this means we can act quickly and effectively, despite the very difficult conditions. Without them, and without you, none of this would be possible 🧡.
How does LIFE use my donation for Palestine? How can I give reliably to support Palestine?
Today we work mainly in northern Gaza 📍, where every day we hand out 500 hot family meals, thousands of loaves of bread from our bakery, and clean drinking water too. We also offer vital psychosocial support to Gaza's children, through a range of sports and arts activities designed to comfort them and improve their wellbeing 🫶.

I've heard aid isn't getting into Gaza. Where do your bakery's ingredients come from? You can't import food such as flour, so how do you manage?
The flour is supplied by the WFP, the World Food Programme, which our Gazan partner works with. With the quantities we have, we can bake more than 10,000 loaves a day, and our goal is 30,000 loaves a day 🥖. We buy the other ingredients from our trusted supplier, who already sells us the food for our hot meals 🍜. It was also through this supplier that we were able to buy the machine we use to make the bread.
Why don't you distribute water in Gaza every day, as you do with meals?
We distribute water as and when we can. Distributing continuously, in larger quantities, takes significant funding. Clean drinking water 💧 is extremely scarce in Gaza. Without it, people in Gaza drink unsafe water that spreads disease. Every donation counts, and we must keep up the effort. Palestinians need us, they need you, right now 💪!
