I'll change the script now

More realistic than "The Day After Tomorrow", more mind-blowing than "Mad Max"…

Imagine 💭 a world where your children never know the gentle shade of a hundred-year-old tree, and where oxygen and water are growing ever scarcer. 😞

But this isn't a film... it's the future we are creating right now.

  • "By 2050, more than 1 billion people could be forced from their homes because of climate change." - The Guardian
  • "The polar bear, the tiger, the orangutan… *Half of all land species could disappear* by 2100 because of habitat loss." - National Geographic

And right now:

  • In sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, people are already the first victims of a global warming they did not cause. 🥵
  • In Indonesia, the forest is vanishing at breakneck speed so that we can eat chocolate spread and dunk our favourite biscuits in milk... 🌳

Every minute, our planet loses the equivalent of 36 football pitches of forest: 13 hectares a year, the size of England. - FAO/UN

What if we could

rewind the film? 🎥

rewrite the script? 🎬

Sadly, "Back to the Future" is still very much fiction... but there is still time to act
*Together, and now, we can choose to stand up and write a new ending to our story. *Will you be an actor, or just a spectator?

"Humanity has a choice: cooperate or perish. It is either a Climate Solidarity Pact, or a Collective Suicide Pact."

Let's change our planet's script with

Imagine... 💭

...a world where balance is restored, where every action sends a positive ripple through the whole ecosystem. Every seed planted, every training session given and every eco-built home is a chapter in a new story we are writing together for our planet.

Ibrahima (Senegal)
"Thanks to Sapousse, our village is green and prosperous again!"

Fatimatou (Benin)
"The reforestation training has been a real opportunity for our community."

Kanto (Madagascar)
"Thanks to the mangrove, we are better protected against tsunamis, and I've become a shrimp farmer"

Help leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

With Sapousse, you take part in:

1. A programme of green renewal

We create forests of abundance made up of "economic" trees that not only help restore the ecosystem but also provide valuable resources such as fruit, nuts and sustainable materials. Every economic tree planted is therefore sure to be looked after by local people, as it gives them a regular income.

2. A regenerative economy

We energise communities by setting up Green Initiatives that support sustainable livelihoods. These include:

  • *Sustainable Aquaculture*: Fish farming that respects the environment.
  • *Responsible Market Gardening*: Creating gardens and farms that use sustainable methods.
  • *Green Entrepreneurship*: Supporting businesses that make a positive contribution to the environment.
  • Education and training: in sustainable farming and informed resource management
  • Renewable energy (turning organic waste into energy)
  • Distribution of farming supplies and promotion of green manures to revitalise the soil

In their words

Rahma T.

👏👏Great initiative, planting tree seeds. Every living being is like that seed, striving to grow into a fruit tree.😍

Frequently asked questions

What are LIFE and Sapousse?

LIFE is an NGO that has been improving the daily lives of vulnerable people in France and in more than 20 countries since 2009. Sapousse is one of LIFE's initiatives, focusing on reforestation and supporting local communities through a range of projects such as reforestation, sustainable farming, biogas production, training and much more.

Why is planting trees important?

Planting trees is essential because they play a crucial role in regulating the climate by absorbing carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas. They also help prevent soil erosion, replenish groundwater and provide a habitat for many species.

Can I find out where my Sapousse trees are planted?

Yes! Sapousse plantations take place in several countries (Indonesia, Madagascar, Morocco, Senegal, Benin, Lebanon, Bangladesh). Each project meets environmental and social goals specific to its area, whether reforestation, mangrove protection or creating sustainable farming plots. If you'd like to follow how the plantations are growing, we share regular updates in our newsletters and on social media.

What do you mean by "economic trees"?

Economic trees are trees that, as well as benefiting the environment, have economic potential for local communities. They can include fruit trees, trees for firewood, or trees that can be used to make products. In Indonesia, for example, LIFE plants mangrove and bamboo.

How does LIFE choose which type of tree to plant?

The trees we plant depend on the country, the climate and the planting site (forest, coastline...). They are chosen both to meet sustainable development challenges and to help local people become self-reliant (providing food resources, creating income-generating activities): - trees with a high carbon storage capacity, such as mangrove and bamboo - local species such as Ravintsara, Kinina and Olive - fruit trees such as Mango, Tapia and Lychee - other trees that produce cash crops: Cinnamon, Coffee, Pink Peppercorn, Moringa...

How do LIFE and Sapousse support local people?

Sapousse encourages rural communities to develop green, sustainable income-generating activities by distributing farming supplies and green manures, setting up market gardens and running green entrepreneurship training. The initiative also aims to develop sustainable economic activities such as livestock farming, aquaculture and building eco-friendly homes.

Which countries does Sapousse work in?

We currently work in Indonesia, Madagascar, Morocco, Senegal, Benin, Lebanon and Bangladesh

How can I contribute?

You can contribute by donating to plant trees, with 2 euros planting one tree, or by becoming a Planet Sponsor with a monthly subscription from €15, which lets you support all of Sapousse's projects.

How are the funds used?

Funds are used to plant trees, support local communities and finance various sustainable projects. This includes buying seeds and tools, training local communities and funding biogas projects.

Will I receive a tax receipt for my donation?

Yes, French donors will receive a tax receipt that can be used to reduce their income tax. In France, you can deduct 66% of your donation from your tax, up to 20% of your taxable income.

Can I choose a specific project to support?

As a Planet Sponsor, your monthly contribution will be used where it is needed most, across a variety of projects within the Sapousse programme

How can I keep up with Sapousse's progress?

You can sign up to our newsletter and follow us on social media for regular updates on Sapousse's progress and success stories from the communities we support.

How can I volunteer or get more involved?

We'd love to welcome you as a volunteer! You can visit the Jeveuxaider.gouv website for more information on our volunteering opportunities. Do get in touch if you have any other questions or would like to know more about how you can help make a difference with LIFE and Sapousse.
