RFI features LIFE

RFI has reported on LIFE and our part in “Le grand Ftour solidaire de France”, the great solidarity iftar held in Paris on 28 March 2024.
Now in its second year, the initiative is run by several charities, including Muslim Hands, Hmarket and LIFE. Its aim is to share food throughout Ramadan with anyone in need, whatever their faith. The article highlights the combined efforts of all the volunteers, and also draws attention to the food insecurity affecting more and more people.
Food parcels and hot meals were handed out at various locations across Paris and the surrounding area. Hmarket launched the project the year before, and it quickly grew into a partnership between several organisations so it could reach as many people as possible.
The need for food aid in France is growing, and the figures on how many people live below the poverty line are alarming. In response to the Covid-19 pandemic and inflation, this has led international organisations such as LIFE to extend their charitable work to France as well.

Poverty affects a very wide range of people. Some of them don’t immediately look like they’re in need, which shows how important it is to challenge stereotypes.
The commitment of the volunteers, both newcomers and long-standing helpers, reflects a growing spirit of solidarity in French society. People from all walks of life came together to lend a hand, proving that charity and empathy go beyond social barriers.
The impact of “Le Grand Ftour solidaire de France” goes beyond simply handing out food. The event brings the community together and raises awareness of the reality of hidden poverty. It also invites each of us to think about how we can make a difference in other people’s lives, even through small acts of generosity and compassion.
