LIFE and other NGOs call for a ceasefire in Gaza

An article in the French newspaper L'Humanité highlights a call for a ceasefire in Gaza from several humanitarian organisations working on the ground in Palestine. We are proud to be among the signatories, alongside Coordination SUD and other well-known humanitarian organisations.

With every day that passes, the situation in Palestine gets worse, and the toll on civilians is devastating. The figures are alarming. Since the Hamas attack of 7 October, more than 10,000 Palestinians, over 4,000 of them children, have been killed in Israel's response. With more than 23,000 people injured, hospitals are overwhelmed. They face a critical shortage of medicines and of the fuel needed to keep life-saving medical equipment running.
We firmly condemn all attacks on civilians, wherever they take place. We remind everyone that protecting humanitarian and health workers, as well as civilians, is an obligation under international humanitarian law for all parties to the conflict.
In the face of this catastrophic humanitarian situation, LIFE and the other signatory organisations call on all parties to the conflict to protect civilians, respect international humanitarian law and allow humanitarian access without delay. A ceasefire in Gaza is the priority.
Through our firm commitment to stand on the side of life, we strive to build a better world, where everyone can live a life of dignity and fulfilment, beyond all divides. Every day, we work tirelessly to stand up for peace around the world. 🌍 🕊️
