Eid al-Adha 2026: acting for a better world with LIFE

Eid al-Adha, also known as Eid el-Kebir, is a special time for Muslims all over the world. Sadly, for many families around the globe, this sacred celebration is often just another day. A day when food is scarce and smiles are few. Many charities and NGOs step in to help those who cannot celebrate it with dignity. LIFE is one of them.

Eid al-Adha 2026: making this day of celebration one for everyone

For Eid al-Adha 2026, our teams will hand out meat parcels to those in need. They will also give gifts to children to bring back their smiles. This vital help reaches several countries, including France, Niger, Somalia, Mali, Lebanon, Kenya, Turkey, Palestine and Bangladesh. During Eid al-Adha in 2022, no fewer than 20,000 families were helped.

In a world facing multiple crises, the poorest communities are often the first to suffer. In Somalia, one of the countries where we worked during Eid al-Adha 2023, people are facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, driven in particular by climate change. Falling rainfall and degraded farmland have made growing food harder and harder. Somali families struggle every day to feed themselves and cope with a crisis that threatens their very survival. According to the World Food Programme (WFP), 7.1 million people in Somalia are affected by acute food insecurity, and 1.5 million children under 5 are acutely malnourished.

Food insecurity is a reality in France too. No fewer than 3.5 million people here live in this precarious situation and now rely on food aid to meet their most basic needs. These millions of people, from all walks of life and backgrounds, struggle to put food on the table every day. They face heartbreaking choices between buying food and other vital costs such as housing, healthcare or education. The food parcels LIFE provides at Eid al-Adha therefore play a vital role, bringing precious support to those who need it. They are practical help that eases a little of the burden of food insecurity.

Eid al-Adha 2026: the real impact of our work

Of the more than 8 billion people on our planet, over a quarter of a billion are on the brink of famine. Sadly, the outlook for the end of 2026 is far from encouraging, pointing to an even more precarious situation for millions of people fighting to survive.
