A recent article in Économie Matin highlights the positive difference LIFE makes through its wide-ranging work. Since we were founded in 2009, we have stood out for projects covering access to clean water, food security, education and environmental protection in more than 25 countries, helping those who need it most.

At the heart of our work is our "Access to Water" programme, which has already delivered more than 2,000 wells and water towers in disadvantaged regions. Water is a basic need: having it close by frees women and children from long, gruelling chores, opening the way to education and local development. Our president, Tarek Elkahodi, stresses how vital this access to water is in unlocking the potential of the communities we serve.

The article also highlights our multidisciplinary approach and integrated projects, noting that our work often goes well beyond water access to include areas such as food security and education. Our executive director, Fanny Fernandes, explains that building a well often goes hand in hand with related projects, such as vegetable gardens for school canteens, a sign of our commitment to a holistic approach.

Another key topic is our reforestation programme, "Sapousse", which brings together humanitarian concerns and environmental protection. Donors can give online to fund trees, promoting sustainability and tackling the effects of global warming.

The article also underlines our focus on community self-reliance and our long-term strategy. By involving local partners, we shape our projects around real needs, working hand in hand with the people who understand local challenges best.

It also highlights the ongoing fight for access to water, with 2 billion people still deprived of this fundamental right. LIFE played a key role at the world water summit in March 2023, sharing its experience on the ground and helping to raise awareness of this crucial issue.

Together, through all these different activities, we strive to make a positive, lasting difference that links humanitarian aid and the environment. Our commitment to community self-reliance guides every one of our initiatives, driven by the belief that access to water is the first step towards a better future for all.
