Putting bank interest to work for humanitarian aid

At LIFE, we have been carrying out humanitarian and social work since 2009 to improve the lives of those who need it most. Thanks to your unfailing generosity, we can give real, practical support to millions of people. Your kindness shows itself in many ways, sometimes even in areas that might seem trivial to some, such as bank interest. Do you have bank interest you would like to part with? You can pass it on to LIFE to make a difference and help those who need it most.

What is bank interest?

Bank interest is a way for banks to reward people who deposit their money with them. When you put money into your account, the bank uses it to help other people by lending it out, for example to buy a home or start a business. In return for using your money, the bank pays you a small extra amount called interest.

On the other hand, if you borrow money from the bank, for example to buy a car, you will have to pay it back with a little extra as interest. This is the cost of the money you borrow, a kind of additional charge.

Bank interest is a reward that banks offer to people who deposit their money with them, while also being an extra cost for those who borrow. It is a way for banks to make money and thank their customers at the same time.

Bank interest is a controversial subject and can be viewed in different ways. Some see it as legitimate payment for the use of money, while others may have ethical or religious concerns about it.

For those with ethical or religious concerns, bank interest may be seen as at odds with their personal beliefs. In such cases, some people choose not to benefit from this interest, or to give it to charities or causes that reflect their values.

Views on bank interest can vary from person to person, depending on their values and beliefs. It is essential to respect individual choices and to look for alternatives that fit one's personal convictions.

Who should you give your bank interest to?

By choosing to pass your bank interest on to LIFE, you help strengthen our social and humanitarian work in France and around the world. Your additional financial support allows us to keep working for the many causes we champion. Whether it is fighting hunger, access to clean drinking water, education for all, or protecting the environment, your generosity drives everything we do.

In Togo, for example, we have run projects as part of our "School for All" campaign, which aims to tackle school drop-out and support families. In the village of Anima, in the north of the country, a school canteen was set up to serve pupils free daily meals. By midday, most of the children, having had nothing to eat or drink since the morning, could no longer keep up in class. Now they have all the energy they need to follow their lessons. A vegetable garden next to the primary school also helps supply the canteen. But it doesn't stop there. School kits were also handed out so the children could study in the best possible conditions. Many had no school supplies at all. Now they can attend school regularly and build their future.

Thanks to our work, thousands of children have benefited from refurbished schools, the school supplies they need to attend lessons regularly, and healthy, balanced meals.
