Medi1Radio talks about LIFE ONG
Medi1, radio from Greater Maghreb, radio from the Mediterranean, has interviewed on September 6, 2024, the president of our NGO LIFE, Tarek el Kahodi, and our project manager Imad Bentayeb.
They tell us about the 4 areas of actions of LIFE and Its 15 years of existence this year !
Here is a short summary!
Born humbly in premises in Seine—Saint-Denis, our NGO LIFE is now an international humanitarian organization present in 25 countries, including Morocco.
We work in four key areas: food aid, water, education, and the environment.
The specificity of our NGO is that we do not content ourselves with temporarily helping populations in need. With an integrated approach, we offer complete and sustainable solutions. For example, by building drinking water wells in villages, children and women no longer need to fetch water from miles away. Children can go back to school and women have time to develop income-generating activities.
Our food aid campaign “1 euro = 1 meal” feeds thousands of people every year, especially during Ramadan. But we don't stop there. At the same time, we are creating school canteens such as in Togo, Benin, Tangier, etc. Because the challenge of eating at school is a real necessity for 3 reasons. This increases academic performance, contributes to a decrease in absenteeism, and allows the arrival of new children.
Likewise, protecting and restoring the environment contributes to the restoration of a stable ecosystem. In Indonesia, in Thailand, when there was the tsunami, thousands of people could have been saved if deforestation had not raged. Indeed, the mangrove constitutes a barrier against extreme weather events and is also a source of income (aquaculture, honey, etc.). Our NGO LIFE intervenes with SAPOUSSE projects in Indonesia to restore these essential ecosystems.
Furthermore, committed to Palestine, In Gaza for a decade, our NGO LIFE has been bringing A vital aid despite difficult conditions, working with local partners.
In Morocco, after the earthquake on the night of September 7 to 8, 2023, we reacted the following day, offering emergency relief to the affected populations. But quickly, we realized that we needed to offer post-emergency help. The children, in the middle of the school year, and shocked by what they had just experienced, had to go back to school. We therefore carried out a project in collaboration with National Education, in the town of Anougal, where 17 schools were built, first in wood and then in prefabricated ones. Parties and inaugurations were organized there to try to put a smile on the faces of the students. In addition, we built 150 mobile homes for the affected families.
For all its projects, our NGO LIFE collaborates closely with local associations, by integrating into communities rather than imposing themselves.
On 19 October next, Fundraising evening A symbolic post-earthquake event will take place, supported by an exceptional sponsor, GIMS. It will pay tribute to the victims and will bring together as many Lifechangers as possible to continue humanitarian action.
