Echo Oriental talks about LIFE ONG

Echo Oriental is talking about our action to distribute school kits around the world, and especially in Tambacounda and its surroundings in Senegal. Our NGO intervenes through its School for All program.

The association Am Bé Koun Solidarité, supported by our NGO LIFE, distributed 625 school kits for first grade students. This initiative has benefited 595 students from outlying neighborhoods and 30 children from the villages in which we work. This distribution meets a fundamental need: to offer children from disadvantaged families the means to access quality education.

Living in remote and marginalized areas, they struggle to meet the basic needs of their children and are often unable to provide them with the necessary school materials. They find themselves at a disadvantage from the first days of school, thus limiting their chances of succeeding in their school career. The objective of this distribution is to fill this gap, by ensuring that each student can follow the courses in good conditions.

Boubacar Sangaré, executive secretary of Am Bé Koun Solidarity, emphasized the importance of this aid in partnership with our NGO, which has innovated by integrating Tambacounda primary schools into this initiative. The beneficiaries have been identified by the planning office of the Education and Training Inspectorate (IEF) and the teachers, ensuring that the school kits reach the families most in need. Each of them consists of bags, notebooks, pens, colored pencils, chalks, erasers, and other supplies. They are there to give these children the tools they need to be better involved in their learning.

The distribution ceremony, held at the basketball court of the Tambacounda Regional Stadium, brought together 18 schools, including 15 in the municipality and 3 in villages where our NGO is actively involved. These localities are often overlooked by major educational programs.

Parents expressed their gratitude to the donors, explaining that these school supplies relieve them of a considerable financial burden. Mohamed Ndiaye, director of a neighborhood school, added that this gesture is crucial to allow students, especially those from the peripheries, to get the school year off to a good start and to avoid teachers being forced to use their own resources to fill the gap!

This first distribution edition paves the way for others, with the hope of including even more children in the program and ensuring that all students have access to the tools they need to succeed.
