When RFI tells the story of a LIFE vegetable garden like no other

In her program “Un jour au village” broadcast on RFI, journalist Kpenahi Traoré put her microphones down in Tambacounda, in eastern Senegal, for a New episode. In it, she tells the daily life of two villages that meet every day around a project supported by LIFE : a collective vegetable garden. More than an agricultural space, this place has become a symbol of solidarity, dialogue and empowerment.
A project that is changing the lives of rural communities
In Djinkoré Manfing and Sinthiou Djeka, women get up every morning to water, maintain and harvest together. This shared work grows much more than vegetables: it fosters trust and cohesion between two neighboring villages.
This RFI report highlights the concrete impact of LIFE's support in Senegal:
- provide communities with tools to strengthen their food safety,
- create spaces for encounter and reconciliation,
- placing women at the heart of local development,
- promote sustainable agricultural practices adapted to the Sahelian climate.
An inspiring model for the whole region
Through this report, LIFE shows that a simple vegetable garden can become a tool for peace, development and emancipation. This local initiative perfectly illustrates the mission of the NGO: to act alongside local communities to build sustainable, fair and inclusive solutions.
LIFE: our NGO highlighted by RFI
This is not the first time that RFI has highlighted LIFE's actions. En May 2025, the program “A day in the village” had already followed young Senegalese from Sine-Saloum engaged in an innovative training course combining hotels and agroecology.
With this new episode devoted to Tambacounda, RFI confirms the scope of LIFE's projects and the relevance of its solutions to the country's social and environmental challenges.
